2021 Vision Board DIY

2020 has been quite the year and one thing it has made me realize is how easy it can be to allow yourself to become unmotivated. During quarantine I found that I had so much free time that I never quite knew what to do with and ended up wasting it in bed, scrolling through social media mindlessly. Going into the new year, I wanted to do something that would help me set goals for myself while simultaneously reminding me of them in order to keep myself accountable. After watching some youtube videos I was inspired to create a vision board for 2021, but I wanted it to be functional and something that I would not just end up discarding my March. I decided on merging a vision board and room decor so I could hang my goals up in my bedroom to keep me inspired throughout the year.

What I used...

-printed photos

-scissors

-canvas (12in x 12in)

-mod podge

-foam paintbrush

I started by writing down all my goals for 2021. After I had a good list, I went over to Pinterest and found pictures that corresponded with these goals I had listed. I printed out these photos in black and white, though deciding between black and white and color was a very long debate in my mind, from my printer on normal printer paper and cut them out. I purchased a square 12 x 12 inch canvas from the craft store to use as my base for this project since I wanted it to be easy to hang on my bedroom wall.

From here, the messy and fun part of the process begins. Apply mod podge on the back of each photograph and create a collage on the front of the canvas. After all the photos were glued down I put a thick coat of mod podge over the top of the collage to seal it all in. This part is always scary for me because the mod podge goes on white and dries clear, but you just have to trust the process.

After the canvas dried, I decided to write all of my goals for 2021 on the back of my canvas so if I needed a reminder of what the pictures represented so I could look back and reflect throughout the year.

Overall, I think this a great DIY project to inspire yourself for the upcoming year. I am really excited to be moving into a college apartment in January so this was the perfect project to create some room decor for my new bedroom. I'm really happy with the results and look forward to seeing how it looks in my new space. If you are looking for a fun way to inspire yourself, manifest your goals, and set new years resolutions that you want to remind yourself of daily I recommend giving this project a try:).
